How to Put On Halo Hair Extensions in 3 Steps

Before the first wear

Le Chic Beauty halo extensions arrive pre-straightened, which can make them look thinner than they are. Wet them and blow-dry, or let them air dry overnight: they can almost double in volume. A stylist can also trim or thin them to match your natural hair.

  1. 1

    Section your hair

    Pull the top section of your hair into a top knot, leaving two inch-wide sections out at the front of your face.

  2. 2

    Place the halo

    Set the halo on your head with the wire about an inch back from your forehead, then push the back of the weft down so it sits firmly below your occipital bone, the small bump at the back of your head.

  3. 3

    Blend

    Let your top knot down over the halo. With a rat-tail comb, pull pieces of hair over the halo and wire until it’s completely covered, then brush through until well blended.

  • Match your ends, not your roots. Extensions blend with the lengths of your hair.
  • Compare in natural daylight. Indoor lighting can warm or cool a shade.
  • Between two shades? A dimensional blend like #4/27 or #18/24 softens the transition.

How to Wash & Care for Human Hair Extensions

Wash human hair extensions every 2–3 months if you wear them once or twice a week, and more often if you wear them frequently or use a lot of styling products. Follow these five steps.

  1. Detangle

    Brush the extensions well to remove any tangles or matting.

  2. Rinse

    Rinse in cold water, letting it flow from top to bottom to avoid tangles.

  3. Cleanse

    Lather with a sulfate-free shampoo such as Repairing Caviar Shampoo, then rinse for at least 2–3 minutes. Sulfates can leave extensions dry and brittle.

  4. Condition

    Work in Repairing Caviar Conditioner or the Repairing Caviar Hair Mask, leave for 5–10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

  5. Dry

    Hang the extensions and gently comb. Rough-dry on medium heat until about 90% dry, then finish with a round brush for a smooth blowout.
